Spann Cathcart, a journalism broadcast major,
was named outstanding member of the year by
national honorary broadcasting society Alpha Epsilon
Rho.
"I'm tickled to death/' said the senior, who works,
at radio station WCKM in Winnsboro and assists Dr.
Lee J. Dudek in a work-study program at USC.
Cathcart was president of Alpha Epsilon Rho
during the spring and fall semesters of 1977. His civic
contributions include radio and TV work for such
events as the March of Dimes, the Jerry Lewis

to a convention of national executives who met
at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas this past April. "11
was fortunate enough to have been elected," Cathcard
said, "and I might mention that Dr. Uray, thechairman
of the broadcasting sequence, is the
national executive secretary."
The title is strictly an honorary one, Cathcart said,
and the plaque he received will be passed on to next
year's recipient. He is the second person to receive v
the award, which originated last year.
