The election of Paul Streeter as
Senate President pro tempore was
nullified in a run-off with Senator
Dale Oldham at the SG senate
meeting last Wednesday.
The run-off was held because of a
discrepancy in voting for the office
a week before. Oldham defeated
Streeter 21-6. Streeter then asked
that the Senate declare Oldham to
the post by acclamation.
President Seamus O'Boyle
addressed the senate body for the
second consecutive week. He
discussed the board of trustees
meeting held earlier that day, of
which O'Boyle is an ex-officio
member.
SG SECRETARY Donna Walker
spoke to the senate Wednesday for
the first time. She discussed a
letter-writing campaign directed
at state legislators for cutting the
USC budget, as well as those of
other colleges and universities in
the state. The drive was to get the
legislators to appropriate $1.5
