The College Republicans at USC are a group of about 30 students who support the Republican national and local tickets, according to Loftis, who is also an SG senator. "We wanted to get a lot of people involved and give everybody a chance," Loftis said. "In a couple of weeks we will elect officers." LOFTIS said although the College Reoublicans arp "ins* viable an organization as the Democrats as far as getting votes," the group is only active several months prior to an election, in contrast to the Young Democrats, a strong organization on southern campuses. "The Young Democrats are more visible," Loftis said. "There are supposedly more Democrats here." The major difference between Republican and Democratic student organizations, according to Loftis, is that Republicans are more conservative than Democrats.
