worked for five years as the
assistant to the president for
government relations when Dr.

the university. Prior to that, I
worked on the staff of (former)
Congressman (Bryan) Dorn, and I
had another position in public
service with the Office of

I have talked with president

the university could and should do

courage more alumni to participate
in alumni affairs. With an
approximate total of 22,000 alumni,
2,200 which are active in alumni
affairs, it would be one of my goals
to raise this percentage substantially,
so as to attract more
dollars to the university from
alumni. Also, the Education
Committee has been a service
where throughout the years substantial
private support has been
gained mrougn contributions from
individuals and corporations.
These gifts have the effect to attract
better quality students and
faculty. It would be my hope that
we could build this foundation to
even greater proportions.
GAMECOCK: What are your
immediate plans?

an official board member until
April 1 when the term of Michael
