Co-op floe To the Editor: This commentary is directed to Housing and Residential Life Services rather than to any particular student or students. The system for r\l oninrf ofn/lanfo />? plOVIUg iJVUU^IUO Uli LU" opportunity interest floors appears to be inefficient. An example of this failure can be found on the third floor of Bates House's A-Wing. The co-op floor is designed for serious students to do some serious studying; it is characterized by a milder social atmosphere than a floor without co-op designation. Simply put, those on co-op floors are more interested in studying than partying. [ On the third floor of Ratps I House's A-Wing, however, such is not the case. On this floor, which is designated coop, not all of the occupants are for the co-opportunity interest concept. There is a mixture of viewpoints on this hall including those who want the study atmosphere of the co-op concept and those who desire the social atmosphere of any other floor. THIS IS not an attack on social life or partying in the least; this commentary stands I in defense of partying just as it j does in defense of studying. I All classified ads are CASH-IN ADVANCE. Thp pn.nnnnrfiinihr infomcf ? - - ~ vj/|/ui bMlliV J IlllV/i COl concept fails because those who want to party are going to party. 2. Those who do want to party don't want their social rights infringed upon by a. system that doesn't represent their attitudes. Heyward Byard 798 2749. ludy allowed by Housing and Residential Life Services. Allowing for procedures such as that to take place results in the two-fold problem previously mentioned. Housing should screen those interested in co-op programs instead of just letting anyone get involved. A corrective measure such as this would promote the co-opportunity interest program and at the same time protect the rights of those who don't wish to be involved in such a program. Gerald L.
