The bill's stated purpose is to provide additional evening parking for women and "to decrease the number of rapes and assaults (with intent to ravish) on campus." sen. Lester Bates, chairman of off-campus affairs, said "the bill isn't going to help girls in the dormitories. It will help coeds driving off campus, going to the Thomas Cooper Library, Student Charges Welcome! <v" - ^ MV* I ^ SfP MW^iBi k aBi t ^>:-x;<^v;v^WBV J 1 i'iViI'i "Imi" ***!??" ng women Longstreet Theater and the Russell House. "I'm inclined to believe the senate will pass the bill. No gentleman will mind being inconvenienced." AN OPPONENT of the bill, Sen. Joe Scalera, said, "it will displace . a lot of people out of a heavily used area. It probably won't reduce the amount of rapes on campus." Bates added a resolution which would place a guard in the parking lot to enforce the bill's provisions. Handicapped males will still be allowed to use the parking lot. Bates also recommended that the bill be enacted on an ex perimental basis for 30 days, after which the senate would decide whether to extend it or not. A resolution for added campus lighting will be introduced by Bates to the senate Wednesday. PROBLEM ' PREGNANCY NEED HELP?
