In reference to Barnwell,
Brunton said, "The building is
structurally very sound, and we're
98 per cent sure we will gut the
inside." According to Brunton, an
extensive overhaul of the interior
of Barnwell will be undertaken at
an estimated cost of about
$1,000,000 or $45 a square foot.
THE VICE PRESIDENT said
the remodeling of Barnwell will
take from two to three years.
Black House and Benson
also will be remodelled to provide
temporary "breathing room," said
Brunton.

a fear that graduate
students were usurping needed
office space in some buildings, but
Dean Baine gave his endorsement
to faculty priority over graduate
students.
AT THE MEETING it was
generally agreed that professors
would temporarily have to make
do with whatever office areas were
onerea, since laooratory space
was deemed most urgent.
The Psychology Department is
or will be occupying four buildings
in the near future: Hamilton
College, Black House, Kirkland
Apts. and Benson Schools.
The ouestinns of whn has what
office, and where labs will be
located are still undetermined.
PERHAPS THE sole optimistic
note of the blaze at Barnwell was
indicated by the dedication which
many people showed. Suzanne
Bachrpan praised the efforts of the
Columbia Fire Department and the
