From the Horse's IV
Having left the semi-warm environment of Columbia for
several weeks for the cold, barren wasteland of New York, I
was faced with the proposition of taking advantage oi tne
many forms of holiday entertainment. From movies to
television to recorded music, one could find just about
anything to keep his mind occupied.
I have selected several of the best and worst examples of
"entertainment," and will present you, The Gamecock
reader, with small, insignificant statements on each.

than John Davidson's or even Bert Convy's for that matter.
After all, we all know that opinions are like armpits ? just
about everybody has one or two, and they all gtink.
"Close Encounters of the Third Kind" ? Steven Spielberg's
mystical, often fascinating statement on life from other
worlds. Special effects are spellbinding. Soundtrack, by
John Williams (who does soundtracks for anybody who's
anybody these days), features an updated- version of
"Dueling Spaceships." Those who go in with high expectations
may be let down. Just go and enjoy.
"Semi-Tough" ? Semi-waste of some semi-actors.
Features a weak screenplay which has little to ao wun uan
Jenkins' hilarious book. Too bad, this could have been a
winner.

"Saturday Night Fever" ? I didn't see it. Horses aren'
allowed into discos, but somebody told me that Travolt;
was great. If you like disco, shake your booty and go. Bu
please write to me in care of The Gamecock and tell mi
what's so hot about disco.
"The Gauntlet" ? Clint Eastwood's attempt at presentini
the "real" cop, is an ultimate flop. The plot is so weak i
couldn't please a drooling mollusk. Features a miracle o
modern cinema: on several occasions Clint tries to delive
more than one consecutive line. How can we possibly tak

that he can act no better than Bruce, the mechanical sharl
from "Jaws." Hollywood needs a tough guy who can act

"Saturday Night Fever-Souiuitrack" ? Like the movie, Mr.
Ed hasn't found the time to hear the soundtrack, but disco
s fans usually go ape over the Bee Gees, and this record is
k. currently topping the charts.
i. "Family" ? They keep flashing back to Willie's initial

holidays Willie started a new relationship with Lizzie's exroommate,
and screwed it up royally.

"Saturday Night at the Super Iiowl" ? The worst show ever
U produced for television. Joe Namath and Paul and Andy
Williams hosted this absolutely worthless piece of semiliterate
trash. I would recommend "Bowling for Dollars"
g over this one. When Paul and Andy danced and sang "Short
s People" I considered writing to my congressman,
requesting to have these pimps destroyed.
