Before the Creative Learning
Center opened a year and a half
ago, there were no day-care
centers on campus that enrolled
children, on a drop-in basis.
Apparently the idea of arranging
a child's day-care schedule around
a parent's class or work schedule
has caught on because today the
center operates at near capacity.
The center, located on the first
floor of the Cliff House Apartments,

a faculty member. "Fees are
sometimes adjusted to what a
parent can afford," Miller said.
The majority of children, about
30 children in the morning session
and 25 in the afternoon, have
parents who attend school full
time, but a larger percentage of
these children have been staying
all day, she said.
THE CENTER handles children
from three to six years of age.
However, the children are divided

centers all their lives.
Once children are divided into
groups they visit the classroom
each day. The classroom is
divided into areas for art, blocks,
homemakiitg, science, library and
games.
The center's program runs on a
continuous basis with no break
between the morning and af
ternoon sessions. Parents receive
a monthly newsletter about the
program's various activities and
guest speakers.
GUEST SPEAKERS such as
foresters, policemen, postmen and
even a representative from the
musir denartment have visited the
center.
