(T* operates By DEBORAH JONES Gamecock Staff Writer Before the Creative Learning Center opened a year and a half ago, there were no day-care centers on campus that enrolled children, on a drop-in basis. Apparently the idea of arranging a child's day-care schedule around a parent's class or work schedule has caught on because today the center operates at near capacity. The center, located on the first floor of the Cliff House Apartments, was established by the fM'M 1^^ learning c ; at near c< Graduate Student Association and initially funded by the Student AHnmtinns Commission, ac cording to Center Director Belinda Miller. The center is now financially self-sustaining, she said. FEES VARY on the basis of whether the child's parent is a full time student, part-time student, faculty or staf* member. The majority of children, about 30 children in the morning session and 25 in the afternoon, have parents who attend school full time, but a larger percentage of these children have been staying all day, she said. THE CENTER handles children from three to six years of age. Once children are divided into groups they visit the classroom each day. The classroom is divided into areas for art, blocks, homemakiitg, science, library and games. The center's program runs on a continuous basis with no break between the morning and af ternoon sessions. Parents receive a monthly newsletter about the program's various activities and guest speakers.
