The university motor pool's new preventive
maintenance program for university vehicles should
ease some of the pressure on tight departmental
operations budgets.
The program is designed to improve upkeep of
university vehicles while stabilizing costs to

responsibility of the motor pool at 703 Pendleton St.
This frees departments from costs of up to $5,000

UNDER THE NEW system vehicles are leased to
the departments by the motor pool at a flat rate. This
way the departments know exactly what they're
paying for vehicle maintenance, and the motor pool
gets more in-house work, according to Queen.
"The primary purpose is to get better control of the
Motor Pool," Queen said.
The amount of money saved by the program will be
determined this Friday, according to W.S. Turbeville,
director of physical facilities and campus
planning.
