examined by several law school personnel.
Figures can be interpreted in many
ways by different persons. They may
be cited to the advantage of an individual
or group who has an interest in
their interpretation and who doesn't
add pertinent information for a full
explanation of their meaning. This
appears to be the case with the law
school.

who has already resigned agreed that
"in every case" other iaw schools
offered higher pay than USC.
Someone is obviously interpreting
the statistical proof to their advantage.
The salaries paid to law school faculty
at this institution must either be
similar to the pay of other schools'
personnel or they must differ. Since no
figures could be obtained on the
average salary of USC law professors,
it is impossible to attempt a comparison
of their pay to that of other
schools' faculties. But the disparities in
the statistics cited by Haynsworth and
the three professors make one think

that two different situations are being
reviewed.
Haynsworth said that USC's administration
will be working with the
law school to improve the pay of the
professors. Yet most of the law school
faculty are pessimistic about receiving
an increase in their salaries.
If the salaries at USC's l&w school
aren't raised to compare favorably
with the pay at other institutions,
professors will continue to resign. The
quality of the law school will decline as
the school loses valuable young
members of its faculty who can serve
their own needs better at a college that
offers them higher wages.

^ ^ i can naraiy believe there
^ are people at USC who have the
w//,, audacity to call themselves
"teachers" while at the same
time lack the intellect and
!gf' open-mindedness necessary to
fill such a position. I am

regarding Tim Leary's speech
last Thursday night. It is
\m people like Ruppersburg that
oppose and retard growth, or,
as Dr. Leary calls it, change. It
gEPjf is obvious (to me, at least) that
Mr. Ruppersburg lacks both
