the student body, SG and the
USC Board of Trustees, and
the vice-president and the
student senate.
"SG is extremely limited
in what they can do because a
lot of bills must be approved
by the Board of Trustees,
and this is a handicap,"
Drawdy said. The vicepresident
must be able to
persuade the board if he
thinks legislation is necessary
to the student body as a
whole."
Drawdy has begun to open
the lines of communication
with the board already by
calling and talking to several
members. "I would like to get
to know all of them personnally,
and this would
definitely help SG," he said.
To improve relations with
student^ Drawdy wants to set
up a committee which would
take complaints and
suggestions from students,
study them and refer them to
the senate..

A lack of communication
between the students and the
student government is a j
major problem that Joe
Hungate stresses in his
campaign for vice president.
A rising junior majoring in
computer science and political
science, Hungate plans if
elected to work to see that the
new academic calendar is
changed. "Different things
need to be added, such as a
longer spring break for the
students and certainly for the
fall semester not to start until
after Labor Day. The new
calendar will mess up the
student's summer employment,"
he said.

for the students not to be liable
for just anything that happens.
This is a very important
contract." ^

! Andy Harley
Andy Harley, a candidate
for vice president, said that
the student senate is the area
he plans to make the most
changes in, if he is elected.
A rising junior history
major, Harley said, "The
senate seems to be a selfservicing
body, more intent on
self-glorification. Last week
Sen. Hungate introduced a bill
which would award each
I senator with a certificate of

as a cost of $167 and a flagrant

opinion. "Our present senate
doesn't seem very concerned
with student response, and
seems to discourage it rather
than encourage it," he said, j
"Gerald Mosley was a good
administrator and h&ndled
senate well,but he did not
always lead the senate in the
right direction. I'd like to
control senate a little more.
There are too many outbursts
during senate meetings and
too much arguing about the
constitutionality of
proceedings."
Harlev said. "Mv onlv

I'm a student and I'll try to
carry out reforms that are
badly needed.
"I don't claim to know all
the answere, and any candidate
who does is ludicrous. I
know I have a lot to learn, but
I'm willing."
