Southern hospitality
Maybe it was the warm
weather* maybe it was the
unexpected two-week
vacation, or maybe it was the
new . (southern!) administration
that caused this
outburst of southern
hospitality. This banner appeared
on a brick wall on
Green Street after the an
nouncement that school was
closing. Perhaps it was intended
as a suggestion to
southern students to make the
vacation an opportunity to
display the famous generosity
found below the Mason-Dixon
line.

Beginning next fall the Laborde
dormitory of the towers will
change from a men's dormitory to
a women's.
The need to' house women
students is increasing because of
the women's spaces lost to men in
the conversion of Columbia Hall to
a coeducational residence hall said
A1 Menard, area coordinator.
When Columbia Hall became co
ea, uiree noors were taken to house
men, this left about 150 women
seeking university housing
elsewhere. These women will now
be able to live in Laborde.
- Like Bates West and Columbia
Hall, the Towers were asked to
pick a dorm to accomodate
women. Of the Towers, Laborde
had the lowest student return rate
