When McKissick Library was
rededicated Monday as a part of
Founder's Week, more than one
museum was added to the
University of South Carolina. The
building will house the Laurence L.
Smith Geology museum and the
Graniteville Room.
Thp MpKissirlr I.ihrnr\;
rededication was held Monday at 4
p.m. with nearly 100 alumni and
friends attending.
Dr. George Curry, university
secretary, said the new museum
and archives were largely because
of efforts of President W.S. Pat
terson's foresight. He said Patterson
realized it would b
necessary to have a place to store
memorabilia of the University's
past and future.
Patterson said, "I have always
wanted to see the university
develop an archives."
He added that, "It would be ?
misdemeanor by state law not t<
preserve state documents and :
don't want to spend my last fev
weeks here in jail."
