The Student Senate has defeated
a proposal to spend $400 for a party
before the Wake Forest game.
The bill was among three
defeated and a three approved at a
meeting Wednesday.
According to the bill the party?
to be held at the home of Robert E.
Alexander, dean of students, would
have served to improve the line of
communications between the
members of Student Government
(SG) and the administration. It

"We feel that formal establishment
of a Comparative Defense
Studies Program at the University
will be of great interest to each of
the services at both headquarters
and command levels," James M.
Roherty, program chairman, said.
ROIIERTY SAID the new
program is not a degree program
or a subfield. Rather, he said, it is a
program of seminar work and
individual research that can be
tailored to the needs of graduate
candidates in political science or ?
international studies and to the
professional requirements of
career officers.
The program has an enrollment
of 14 students this fall, with three
