Big plays
By RONNIE HUTCHEN
Gamecock Staff Writer
Even after compiling impressive
statistics Saturday night, the most
important edge USC had over
Virginia in a 35-7 win was the
ability to ignite the big play.
i AiLUAtK CLARENCE
WILLIAMS, who opened the
second half with a 68-yard touchdown
run, said that the offensive
bursts by Carolina came at the
right times.
"I think the big plays gave us the
momentum right at the times we
needed it most," he said. "I think it
probably took a lot out of Virginia
when I came up with that long run
at the beginning of the second half.

441 agree with the idea that a
team can develop a dominance, or
momentum with a big play early in
each half."
The specialty team was the first
to contribute a big play as Zion
McKinney returned the opening
kickoff 56 yards to establish early
momentum for Carolina.
