DOWNTOWN RICHLAND MAIL <
Tickets From Pl,ge 5
was passed in September and
vacated later by the board. Carlen
was insistent the greater use of
student tickets under the policy
would cut deeply into receipts to
the athletic department. (If
student tickets are not picked up,
they can be sold later to the
public.)
A "long argument" developed in
the Student-Trustee Liaison
Committee hearing on the subject,
according to Hill, between him and
Carlen. "I didn't think it would
make that much difference
monetarily," Hill said.
Carlen's displeasure swayed two
of the members of the committee
who had supported tne idea Dei ore.
Thus the committee was reluctant
to recommend it to the board, and
support died away among some of
the board members also.,4I really
think if the athletic department
had been less inclined to oppose
it," Hill said, "the trustees
probably would have voted for it."
