For the fifth consecutive year Carolina's men
tennis team has won more than 20 matches in a
season and is now bidding for a top 20 ranking.
USC has a 24-2 record with seven matches
remaining and USC head tennis coach Ron Smarr
thinks that could determine it his team is ranKea or
not.
"If we win the rest of our matches we should
definitely be ranked," Smarr said. "I think we are
one of the 20 teams in the country, and if we are
ranked 20th I'll be satisfied.''
Carolina has a seven-match win streak going into
tomorrow's match with Aooalachian State and has

HP his team should be ranked in the
llplllP nation's top 20. The Gamecocks
have a seven-game win streak and
USC to bring four singles and two doubles teams to
the tournament as opposed to only two singles and
one doubles if unranked. "The only way to get ranked
is to play ranked teams, and that is exactly what we
do," Smarr said.
Two players are nearing their 100th win and will
become the first players in Carolina's history to do
so. Senior Jeff Kefalos has an overall career record

"The most important thing to me is that the team
wins and not whether I set records or not," Hufschmid
