The conversion to coeducational
facilities will displace some
students. "What we'll probably
do," Wertz said, "is equalize Bates
West to help in placing the
students. Less than 150 women will
be displaced."

opening 24 hours and
becoming coeducational, Wertz
said, "We still find a lot of students
want alternate plans. We'll have to
determine what students want and
what parents will support. The
USC Trustees set dorm hours, so
we would have to go to them and
get their approval to change."
Wertz added, "Sometimes we
think students want one thing when
actually they don't want it. So, we
welcome all input and information."

Charges were made that some
residents had to move out of the
dormitory when they were charged
with possession of marijuana but
had not had a trial.
Dr. James Campbell, vice
president of student affairs, said
there "were cases where students
were picked up for possession with
intent to sell and were removed
from the community. That has not

and changed to guarantee
that it cannot happen without a full
hearing," he said.
1 Woodland Terrace residents said
only a few were present at the
earlier hearing covering their area
because of poor communication.
However, many were present at
last Thursday's meeting.

Director of Housing Robert

terrace is in the condition it is now.
According to Wertz, it "was not in
that great a condition when we got
it. If it gets to a point where it is
really bad we will close it down.
It's harder to keep up an area like
that, but we do the best with what
we have."
One question was on the pest
control company which, in the
words of one resident, "sprays the
apartment in 30 seconds." David
McCauley, coordinator of student
housing, said if there is
dissatisfaction with the job, call us
and they'll go back. Next yee *
