Although Richardson signed athletes at other positions he emphasized his recruiting around pitching prospects. Only senior left-hander Tim Lewis returns from last year's starting rotation that combined to give USC one of the top earned run averages in the country. His pitching, combined with several substitutes' mental mistakes, enabled the Baptist College to score six runs in the game's last three innings. At' Miami Dade Lewis had a career record of 16-7 and a era of 1.97. He had a career strikeout record of 209 in 217 innings. Mike Kish from Boyertown, Pa., is another right hander who liopes to be called upon during the season. SECOND BASEMAN Tom Mixon is realistic about his chances of playing his freshman year. "I'm not ready to hit like some of these guys are right now as a freshman. But, defensively, I might help them out in the late innings some."
