According to the constitution, cabinet members are to be appointed in April. On this point, the constitution is out-of-date and 1tiS needs revision. Why does the T Student Body President receive four complimentary tickets on the C 45 yard line? "Cause we work our or asses off," is the answer most often I heard from Student Senators. Cc Work their asses off for who? Themselves or the students they et are supposed to represent. True, bi the Student Senate is working hard C< on the Green Street proposal and it C( was instrumental in obtaining fe additional security for the Bates House ramp. rt Does this mean they deserve b special privileges such as N receiving above average tickets to s all Carolina football and basketball C games? NO! The best tickets S( should go to those students that go C down to the Coliseum and stand in w line for them. The Student Senate has a right to n; receive block tickets just as any ti student organization does, but not ir on the 35 yard line. Other student st organizations receive block tickets pi on the 15 yard line at best. Is it Si asking too much of the Student C Senate to sit in the same place as o other student organizations sit? Apparently it is! bi Currently there is a bill, PSBB hi 147 in the Student Senate to ci prohibit such "special" seating o arrangements for members of the b, SGA. 1viost student senators are Si against the bill. They see nothing w unfair about their sitting on the 35 ul yard line while the vast majority of p the students sit to their left. fr This bill will not pass without al student support and input. Ex press your opinion! Tim Rogers ecurity spoils tewart concert [) THE EDITOR: Not being a big Carolina yliseum concert goer, but being ie of the bigger Rod Stewart fans decided to take in the Stewart incert. I have never liked going 'to incerts here because of the un lievably strict security at the oliseum. The Rod Stewart con !rt was, unfortunately, no dif rent in that respect. The Coliseum has had trouble in cent years attracting the bigger mnds such as Faces, Stones, etc. any people blame this on the >ecial tax on every seat in the oliseum but I think it is the !curity rather than the tax. The oliseum's reputation is getting orse with every concert. Everyone knows that performers iturally get more involved in eir concerts if the crowds are ore responsive to the show. It -ems that Columbia had lots of ,ople wanting to be responsive at ewart's concert but police and >liseum personnel seemed intent i stifling that enthusiasm. But Stewart himself is not one to blamed. Anyone there noticed )w he tried repeatedly to get the -owd off their feet and succeeded ily to have the police sit everyone ick down right away. But ewart's flambouyant personality on out in the end. Everyone was > and standing during the later irt of the show and police seemed ustrated trying to do anything >out it. This was the fourth time I've -en Stewart and the Faces. By )mparison this was one of his Ater concerts that I've seen. The )und was good and the -ofessionalism was evident. But le crowd electricity was missing, - rather stifled, for most of the iow. When I saw Stewart in Roanoke, irginia, he had about 200 people in te audience sitting on the stage ith him. lie didn't mind one bit. fact he seemed to like it because hen police were getting people off e stage he waved them away. I saw him again at Duke the next ear and that concert turned into uch the same situation as the arclina concert. Stewart, then at ec height of his career, was so arned off that he didn't even come ack for an encore. My third Stewart concert was the ening date of this current tour in sheville, North Carolina and was riother rousing Stewart special. e enjoyed it so much that his >core lasted nearly an hour. Reaction does make a dif rence. Mayh(' Coliseum officials iould reexamine thejir security easures to accommodate good erformances.
