USC homecoming activities have only three
days to go, but those 72 hours undoubtedly will be
well spent partying at two country-rock concerts,
Cockfest and the Gamecock-Virginia Cavaliers
game.
In reality, the first major concert began last
night in the Golden Spur with Arthur, Hurley and
Gottlieb providing the entertainment.
The group consists of five talented musicians
that can play soft mellow ballads using excellent
three-part harmony, or good time country rock
that has even the most passive bystander keeping
the beat of the music with his hands or feet. Their
sets are extremely informal as they convey their
feelings of life and how they enjoy it to anyon.;
taking the time to listen.
ARTHUR, HURLEY and Gottlieb are scheduled
for one more performance at 8:30 tonight in the
Golden Spur. This is one act that no one should
miss.

The fourth annual Cockfest will take place on
Friday night. Little information needs to be added
about this since it follows the same basic format as
every other pep rally in Williams-Brice Stadium.
The show consists of student organization skits,
fireworks, the insipid wit of Bob Fulton and other
hoopla of this nature.
For those fans who want to see the Golden Boys
in person and hear Jim Carlen speak, you'd better
get there early ir. order for ther. to be well-rested
for their cockfight the next night with Virginia.
Oh yes, if weather permits, the soul, Top 40
oriented Hues Corporation will sing their hit single
Rock the Boat in the stadium after the pep rally is
over. And just think, all of this awaits you at Cock
fest for only $1.
SATURDAY, THOUGH, will be the crowning
glory of a week-long Homecoming celebration.
The day begins with a parade down Sumter Street
around noon, and ends with an outdoor free
concert featuring Jimmy Buffett and the Corral
