Lacrosse
The game of lacrosse, originally a game played
by Indians to settle disputes between tribes to avoid
warfare, is now coming to Carolina, or at least we
hope it is.
One of the faster growing sports in the United
States lacrosse combines speed, finesse, and hard
hitting. A concerned group of Carolina students are
now trying to form a lacrosse club.
Although still in its awakening stages better than
loo students, men and women (yes women too),
have expressed a great interest in playing or
learning to play this sport.
If you are interested in playing or learning to
play there will be an exhibition this Saturday on
Intramural field A at 11. There will also be a
meeting next Tuesday at six in the Towers Con
ference Room in the Mike Johnson Lounge. For
more information about meetings or practices you
can call Mark Vann at 777-4984.

Game of The Week
Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE)
defeated Kappa Alpha Psi 6-0
Tuesday in a game characterized
by good defense and poor offense
by both teams.
The ball changed hands many
times throughout the course of the
game because of bad weather
conditions. It was a defensive
battle in the first half leaving both
teams scoreless at halftime. Each
team was provided with scoring
opportunities but neither was able
to score.
The second half also saw tough
defense by both teams until a pass

interception gave SAE good field
position. SAE scored on a pass
play but a penalty nullified the
touchdown. Kappa Alpha Psi held
after the touchdown had been
called back, but they were still
unable to establish a consistent
offense when they got the ball.
The game's only score came
early in the fourth quarter as John
Burkhart scored on a right-end.
The extra point failed.
After receiving the kickoff,
Kappa Alpha Psi was still unable to
move the ball. SAE took over and
Burkhart agin gave his team good
field position. Burkhart was
stopped just short of the goal line
after a long run. The Kappa Alpha

Psi kept SAE out of the end zone
once again. The game ended
before their offense could move the
ball.
In addition to scoring the game's
only touchdown, Burkhart also had
a good day in the SAE defensive
secondary. He intercepted two
passes and prevented any long
gains by Kappa Alpha Psi.
