USC gets
health grant
USC has received a grant of
more than $91,000 from the W.K.
Kellogg Foundation to develop a
special educational program in
health care financial
lmanagement.
The $91,517 grant is one of four
grants that has been awarded to
universities throughout the nation
and will be implemented through a
three-part agreement with the
College of Business
milnistration, the W.K. Kellogg
Foundation, Battle Creek, ,Mich.,
and the Hospital Financial
Management Educational
Foundation, Chicago, Ill.
USC PRESIDENT William H.
Patterson said that the grant "will
enable the University to further
meet the educational needs of
health care management per
sonnel as part of Carolina's efforts
toward aiding the improvement of
total health care delivery in the
state and region."
The program, entitled,
"Executive Graduate Program in
Health Care Financial
Management," is made up of two,
one-year U-nskuctional programs at
the graduate level. Participants
may enroll forone oc both years.
Upon completion of the first-year
participants will be awarded
certificates issued jointly by the
USC College of Business Ad
ministration and the Hospital
Financial IManagement
Educational Foundation.
After the second year and
completion of a thesis the par
ticipants may earn a Master of
Sciences degree in Business
Administration with a major in
Health Care Finance.

practitioners in various health
