Co-Op seeks students In the face of rising prices, a group of individuals in the Carolina Community is making a "co operative" effort to survive. "The Co-Operative," a restaurant and natural foods store at 221 Pickens Street serves as a center for the effort. Members of the co-op can buy food and services from fellow members 'at co-op prices. The Co-op is a non-profit Drganization that is controlled by the membership. There are two categories of membership. A "working member" pays five dollars each year and has a flexible work requirement at the Co-Op. Working members are charged a en per cent mark-up on co-op tems, while non working Co-op nembers pay $10 each year and ire charged a 25 per cent mark-up. Included in the co-operative is a "skills collective," which offers earpentry, plumbing and auto mechanics services. This "skills :ollective" provides inexpensive services for the community, as vell as providing jobs for workers.
