Late tests
faculty's
The problem of teachers giving
first tests of the semester after the
drop date may get Faculty Senate
attention, according to an ad
ministrative spokesman.
Dr. Barry Rosen, assistant to the
president, said such a chance
exists, but could not say definitely
when or what it would be. Any
proposal would probably be made
by the Student-Faculty Relations
Committee, he said.
Rosen's statement is the result of
investigative inquiry done by
Florence Logan, a USC student.
Logan said she discovered that in
one of her courses, the first test
would not be given until after this
semester's Feb. 24 drop date. She
said she talked to other students
who have had this problem.

No one seems to know how the
three ducks in the reflection pool
came upon their new home,
however, a spokesman for the
maintenance crew said the new
inhabitants will be given free room
and board.
Weldon B. Frye, director of the
maintenance shop, said the ducks
will be looked after when the
reflection pool is cleaned.
Frye said he likes the ducks and
felt most students enjoyed them
too.
The ducks do not make a big
mess and although the pool needs
an early cleaning, much of the dirt

- Logan said she called several
administrative offices and was
referred to the University Om
budsmen. She mentioned that
Rosen and Vice-president Nicholas
P. Mitchell said they were in favor
of some sort of legislation to help
stop this problem. "A lot of
students are involved in it and
nobody ever did anything," Logan
said.
Rosen, a member of the Student
Faculty Relations Committee, said
he will support such a measure. He
added the committee will see how
feasible such legislation is, and
then make recommendations to
the Faculty Senate. "I think it's an
idea that should go to the com
mittee," Rosen said.

struction of the new library, Frye
said.
"We do not know where the
ducks came from," Frye said, "but
after the first duck found some
company people started noticing
them. People seem to feed them
regularly and they look like they
are in pretty good shape."
The newest addition to the duck
trio is a mallard with clipped
wings. No one seems to know
where the mallard came from
either but one thing is for sure, he
did not fly in.
