One of Schwartz's main criticisms is that cases involving students should be handled by the Student Judiciary rather than other organizations. She said the number of people on the judiciary are more than suf ficient for the number of cases they actually hear. Schwartz added if the judiciary was more like an actual court, more people would be needed to staff it. The .Student Judiciary has the right to suspend a student. Its purpose is not to recommend but to act. A student can, upon con viction, appeal the decision to the court. Schwartz said the legislative branch of the student government uses the judicial branch as a reference to check the con stitutionality of proposed bills. Kilpatrick said the Judiciary is "trying to update our procedures and penalties to meet changing times and administrative at titudes."
