MONDAY, FEB.10, 1975 Marquett ...prepar BY MARK DILLARD Of The Gamecock staff Long lines, camping out and a "sell out" is expected by those planning for student ticket distribution for the USC Marquette basketball game. However, both student and administration officials are trying to make the ticket pick-up fair and expect no major problems when tickets are given out Friday at Carolina Coliseum. Roger Booco, who directs student ticket distribution, said Thursday, "We're all getting JAMES L. MOSS USC trustee dies USC Trustee James L. Moss Jr., 66, died Saturday. Funeral services will be held today in York for Mr. Moss, a York attorney since 1932 and member of the USC Board of Trustees since 1956. Services will be at 11 a.m. at the ARP Church with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Moss was the son of the late James L. and Mary Jane Ford Moss. He received his bachelor's degree from USC in 1930 and law degree in 1932. Students are allotted 5,800 tickets out of a total 12,397 for each game. Dick Jordan, assistant athletic , ticket manager, said the last time all the student tickets were picked up was for the Notre Dame game last year. At that time some students complained about waiting in line for hours and not getting tickets. Others brought beer and sleeping bags to the Coliseum and turned an overnight wait into a party. Booco said he expects any problems in distributing tickets to come before the students get inside the Coliseum. "Outside there may be problems among the students with people breaking in line. It would be very difficult for us or anybody to marshall that properly." Steve "Rooster" Painter, chairman of the Student Senate's athletic committee, said a group of students under him will be on hand to help check I.D.'s and fee receipts. Their purpose, he said, will be to see that those waiting for tickets come at the right time and are in the correct line for the number of credited hours they have. "If everybody lines up here and stands patiently in line," Painter said, "we can check and weed out those people who aren't supposed to be there. But if they start pushing then it makes it easier for the person who's not supposed to be there to get through." Painter said students are usually "placid" about ticket pick-ups, "but, when you have a game like Marquette, it's just like everybody's been injected with adrenaline." Booco said that at pick-ups for ordinary games the athletic department is sometimes lenient about requiring students to get their ticket at the time scheduled for their I.D. number. "We get real loose about noon," he said. But, he added, "We can't do that for Marquette." Some students called for changes in the distribution of tickets after the Notre Dame pick-up last year. Painter said he favored a bill considered by the Student Senate in December to change to a "first come, first 'served" method, eliminating scheduling by I.D. numbers. He attributed the defeat of the bill to speeches against it by several persons and a petition to the senate which had more signatures than another petition favoring the new system. The proposal would add "I, S, U, WF, N and NR" to letters used to mark grades. The new symbols encompass more situations, according to the Scholastic Standing and Petitions Subcommittee. "NR", no record, means a professor does not report a student's grade at the proper time. The following are options which are being considered: "FA", no credit in course due to excessive absences, and -"B+, C+ and D+", half grades, which the law school has adopted. The senate also discussed two regional campuses, with more than 1,000 students, which are eligible to become full colleges. Aiken now has 900 students and junior-level courses. Partial autonomy was proposed for these three campuses. Provost Keith Davis said the College of General Studies would not change for at least a year and a half.
