how we envision the person will do
at U.S.C."
"The first cut was not as difficult
as the next series of cuts will be,"
Smith said. The committee has
already made one cut and sent out
rejection slips to those applicants.
The base minimum for the
psoition is a master's degree and
experience in administration,
Smith added.
At a Jan. 28 committee meeting,
ed IFC head;

is the first black to hold that office
of the organization. Runager said
he sees this as a good trend and
that it is "very encouraging" to see
blacks participating in the coun

Runager said the elected officers
are due to be sworn in officially on
April 18 during the Greek week

Bill Outlaw, publicity chairman

part of IFC to recognize blacks.
Outlaw mentioned that Zinnerman

there was discussion of the need to
broaden the involvement of all
segments of the university com

of the committee. The two
alternatives discussed included
broadening the committee at the
second stage of the review of the
applications. Inviting several
affiliate non-voting members who
would participate in the final stage
of the review process has-also been
discussed. These non-voting
members would submit written
comments to the committee prior
to final deliberations.
At the same meeting, the
committee discussed further
procedures for the selection of

For dean
member vote will be given a
numerical value. The votes will be
tallied for each application and
those below the median score will
be sent a letter of rejection.
At the Feb. 4 meeting, the
committee decided on eight people
as a possible replacement for
Richard Wertz, a committee
member. Wertz has been
nominated as a candidate for the
position of Dean by someone in the
University community. Wertz
resigned from his position as
committee member before he
applied as a candidate for dean,
according to Smith.
The eight possible replacements
for Wertz were submitted to
Provost Keith Davis, who will
choose the replacement.
