The threk ucbools that joia USC
in the first Carolina Classic Dec.
20-21 are not expected to give the
Gamecocks any real challenge.
Duke, Princeton, and Louisiana
State comprise the field for the
event in which USC is the host
team. The Gamecocks meet
Princeton in one game bec. 20 with
Duke and Louisiana playing the
other first night game.
Princeton could field its weakest
team in seven years, according to
many basketball publications. The
best thing they have going for them
is a strong defense that has allowed
teams only 634 points a game In
the past six seasons.
The Tigers were hit hard by
graduation from a club that went
16-10 last season. Mickey Steuerer,
a quality guard , and 6-7 center
Barnes Haupfuhrer are the best
two players back for Coach Pete

If so,' the Gamecocks wilff not

18.6 rebounding average.
Bill Foster is the new Duke head
