Gray Professor of Rhetoric at Yale University, Brooks will conduct research on the second volume of his study of William Faulkner during his stay. Brooks will also' conduct workshops arid seminar meetings on Faulkner for participants in the Southern Studies Program and present a public lecture in Southern literature while on campus. A native of Murray, Ky., he received his B.A. from Vanderbilt Students plai in fund raisi The Student Senate at Columbia College is sponsoring a volleyball marathon from Nov. 11 through Nov. 18 to raise money for Phil Hodges, who was in a car accident this past summer. Proceeds from the marathon will go to the Hodges family to help defray medical costs. Hodges, former head of the Physical Education Department at Columbia, is still unconscious from the August wreck. Columbia College girls, realizing the Hodges' expenses continue to mount, decided to help them out. "Mr. Hodges was very dear to us. He has helped us a lot through the years, so now we want to help him," said Karen Gregory, editor of the.Postscript, the student newspaper, and also a member of the senate. A few years ago, they held a marathon to raise money for a scholarship. fund. Gregory, "The last volleyball marathon was a huge success. We're sure it will work again, but we need more volunteers, especially from USC. Fraternities and other campus organizations are welcome to either play or pledge. But in order for the marathon to be a success, we need your support." In conjunction with the fund raising idea, the girls hope to set a new world volley ball playing record of 169 hours.
