The long-time party stalwart

"If 500 people show up the

3,000 come then it should be
one of the greatest events on
this campus," Elliot stated.

Edwards hopes "to keep them
happy in a rural setting by putting
a hostital nearby. I think we could
have spent the $200 million
(estimated cost of second medical
school) in a better way." He said
the hospital system would have
cost more, but gotten the
necessary results.
He proposes in his crime
program, stopping the sale of the
Saturday night special, small hand
guns often blamed for many
violent deaths. He also wants a
delay period established between
the purchase of any firearm and
the receipt fo the merchandise.
Increased salaries for law en
forcement officers and benefits for
their families if they are injured or
killed is a primary objective of
Edward's program.
He never forgets to
mention the bill he authored. which
allocated money for a graduate
school of criminal justice at USC.
The South Carolina Dairy

Admitting he doesn't know
whether the utility rate hikes are
justified, he said, "I'm in favor of
utilities being able to survive. Can
you imagine America without
electricity?
"But often the rate increases are
governed by the law of retainers
(of lawyer-legislators) rather the
laws of men. The utilities may

Edwards said, "The message
has been delivered to them

If persuasion doesn't bring
change, Edwards proposes to take
the problem to the people. "We
want a people-to people program of
voluntarism. Washington (state)
got 3,000 people together and they
cleaned up the beaches.
"All you have to do is invite them
sincerely and level with them.
South Carolinians will rise to the
occasion."
