Recommendations to President
William H. Patterson concerning
the use of stationary bearing the
University letterhead for the ex
pressing of personal opinions werw
drafted at the Faculty Athletic
Committee meting Monday.
The statement of the com
mittee's feelings are to the effect
that any expression of opinion by
the Athletic department and
faculty and staff on USC letterhead
is to be labeled as su..'h and signed
by the author with a simple
disclaimer.
University counsel Mike Grier
said disclaimers would not make
future letters in compliance with
HEW regulations.

following a letter to the Gamecock
Club by Paul Dietzel expressing his
objections to Title 9, federal
regulation prohibiting sex
discrimination in education
programs.
The letter was written on USC
letterhead and was taken by

stationary for such purposes and
saving Dietzel's letter did not
express offical University policy.
"Our recommendations are to be

barricade will be constructed at
the corner to deter traffic at
