USC's Tim Hankin
Soccer team wins
USC's soccer team, sparked by a
comeback tie against UNC
Asheville on Friday, upset Warren
Wilson on Saturday, 3-2 to go 1-o-1
on the road trip.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime, USC
scored three second-half goals
against Wilson in the school's
homecoming game. Soccer is the
school's chief sport.
One of the goals was scored by
John Rosier who had sent the tying
goal through the net the previous
day in the last three minutes of the
affair with UBC-Asheville to end
the scoring at 1-1.

series with the Columbia Jets
tonight at the USC field behind the
Roost dorm at 7:30.
The two teams play again
tomorrow night at 7:30.
Carolina won the first game, 5-1,
behind four runs scored in the
eighth and ninth innings. The Jets
had held a 1-0 lead throughout most
of the game, the run scored on a
wild pitch by USC's Tim Lewis.
The Jets have tabbed George
Beam as tonight's starter. Beam,
as are many of the Jets, is a former
USC player. Although Beam never
quite reached the potential ex
pected of him at USC he is a co
holder of the school strikeout
record, whiffing 17 batters in one
game.
