News I Children's Art Classes Saturday morning art classe will be sponsored by the US( Department of Art beginning Sept 28. Three classes, for 7-8 year olds 9-10 year olds and 11-12 year olds will- be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. i Sloan College. The classes wil include a variety of art ex periences allowing each child t< work individually with differeni media. Classes will be taught by arl education majors under tht direction of Ralph H. Waldrop, a fine arts graduate of USC. Dr. Jim Cromer of the art departmeni faculty will act as coordinator. Materials fee for the ten sessions will be $20 per child. Further information and ap plication forms are available from Cynthia Jackson at the Depart ment of Art by calling 777-423H between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. daily. Applications should be submitted by Sept. 16. "Youth For Ravenel" USC "Youth for Ravenel" will hold an organizational meeting 7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 5, in the Campus Room of Capstone. The newly-chartered campus organization is open to all USC Students and faculty. The organization will be involved in a canvass of the student body, voter registration, assistance with absentee voting, fund-raisers and funciens for Charles D: Ravenel. Discount Booklets . Due to a mixup, students who purchased discount booklets at registration are asked to stop by the Student Government office for a refund. Student Body President Leigh Leventis said these booklets were sold erronously and SGA would refund students' money until Sept. 11. Coach Bobby Cremins University of South Carolina Assistant Basketball Coach Bobby Ciemins will speak Thursday, Sept. 26 to a social meeting of the Horry County USC Alumni Association. The affair, featuring remarks by the former USC team captain, will be at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club lhi Myrtle Beach beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $6.50 prperson and reservations may bemade with David R. Graveley, P.O. Box 357, Myrtle-Beach, S.C. 3een. Biochemical Genetics A course in Human Biochemical Genetics, open to physicians in the area, will be taught in e. ~efs department next spring by Dr. Scandalios. Scandalios explained that, "The average family doctor who has been practicing for over ten years did not likely ever have a formal course in human genetics; such courses are now an integral part of most health or medical curricual; we should offer this I opportunity to local physicians in I the area." USC's Biology Department combines research efforts in developmental biology, genetics and biochemistry in a concerted fairly unique approach among i universities to study problems of i differentiation.
