The rain has stopped and they're
back. The Sunday afternoon sun is
making it hot again and the kids
are back swimming, running
around, giggling, and having as
much fun as before the rain. The
parents, mostly faculty and staff
look happy too; a change from
their weekday appearance. On the
lodge's porch is a professor

roast hotdogs on smoldering grills.
Several canoes are exploring the
outer reaches of the lake, but I
don't see anyone fishing. There is
a noticeable lack of students. A
few, mostly couples, are enjoying
the swimming , the sun and each
other.
But this is Bell Camp, 215 acres

Camp
of recreational facilities for the
students of USC so why aren'
there more students?
"That's our biggest problem
right now -- getting students to
come out here," admits Don Luse,
assistant director of Bell Camp.
"It would probably take alot of
asking to find a student who knows
what Bell Camp is."
For those of you who don't know,
Bell Camp is:
Swimming -- just as wet as
anywhere else, but less crowded
Canoeing -- looks like fun, lift
preservers provided
Fishing -- they must be dowr
there somewhere
Camping -- primative, no water
or hook-ups, nice trees though
Cabins -- 5 of these, 4 beds in each
- bring your own sheets, pillows
and teddy bears
Picnicing -- lots of room for this
Tennis -- courts will be com
pleted soon, very professional
looking
Horseshoes -- one of the most
popular activities
Playground -- swings, slide,
monkey-bars, merry-go-round,
and seesaws for all of us kids
Relaxation -- The main at
traction

As it starts to rain again, I ask
Don about supplying tran- e
sportation for students. "We plan I
to very soon," he answers, adding,
we ran a bus before but the b
response was poor, only 2 or 3 s
people per bus."

The rain gets heavier and
veryone scrambles for the lodge.
