'I GNORE THEM, t*ARSr-- AS F ~(I Show Degrades Black Women To the Editor: This letter is addressed especially to the Black Student Body here at Carolina. May it suffice to say in introduction that we the drafters of this letter are cognizant of the fact that the af fairs of black students should remain within the black confines. However, we are also aware that certain behavior by a select group of black students has transcended these confines and therefore must be dealt with in the overall arena of the Carolina Community. We speak now not of the streaking fad Which must be labeled as non applicable to the Carolina Black Community, but to the line of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity (Zeta Zeta Chapter) at publicizing and rejoicing in their warped sexist ideas of womanhood on April 10, 1974 on the Russell House Patio. This show was a blatant act of disrespect to womanhood in general and Black womanhood in particular. Undoubtedly it took a concentrated effort on behalf of said pledge line to stoop to that level of degradation. The sad part to the entire episode is the con donement of such actions by Coach Harold White (Advisor) and the "Big Brothers" of Omega Psi Phi by not censoring this show. How can we as black males demand respect for the sisters if we tolerate such atrocities? The insults leveled at specific MALE in dividuals were digestible and exudative, but the vulgarity which used beautiful black women as pawns and instruments... .for entertainment border on the realm of the intolerable. Be not deceived Black brethern, your every action is monitored during your tour of these Ivory Towers.. You are suppose to be the cream of the crop.If actions displayed by aforementioned group are indicative of the cream, then it is disturbing to imagine the condition of the crop. We trust that the black Women who witnessed this show were insulted and strenously rejected this decadent behavior. Any sister condoning such action deserves the disrespect showeredunmercifully upon her. Richard Reed Atlee Prince, Jr. Harrison Heller III Jackson Unqualified To the Editor: In response to Senator Jackson's recent appearance in Columbia I have to say that he is not qualified for President in 1976. He is a liberal and his own views which merit a 4 per cent rating by the Americans for Constitutional Action shows that Jackson falls very short of being opinionated but such with ration support. History teaches us that many opinions have cropped up, i.e. fascism, communism, existen tialism, hippie type of philosophy et. al. but they die since they do not have the support of man's intellect or the sanction of God. This may be too much for you to grasp but it is true; Jackson will fall on his face in 1976, but what about George Wallace? Think about that please? Feedback desired. Douglas Keith Non-streaking Females Not Liberated To The Editor: In regard to Streak Week at tendance (first week of March). I was truly overwhelmed at the mass of spectators spectating the fantastic number of naked male bodies frantically dashing about the University the past few nights; indeed Carolina males are ob viously liberated. Which brings us to the point. I was equally over whelmed at the number of naked female bodies frantically dashing about the University the past few nights, only overwhelmed in the opposite direction. Which brings us even-closer to the point. Are Carolina females liberated and do they desire liberation? I say they are not and they desire not. After observing the minuteness of female streaking recently it has been proven by females that the feminine Liberation Movement is a farce, a fake, and a fiasco. Femnae themselves demnstrated G ON MY itES, AND rM war their feelings of inferiority when compared to 'Males by their inability to streak with males. Females, one cannot become socially liberated until one has become self-liberated! Name Withheld Whopping Reduction To the Editor: Hallelujah! Student Senate has finally done something about the rampant wasteful spending. They reduced the Student Government's cut of our mandatory activity fees from 11.38 per cent to 11 per cent. A whopping reduction of .38 per cent!! Doubtless a drastic reduction in spending the size ,! .38 per cent will result in a severe cutback in Student Government expenditures. It won't be easy for the Senate to get by without that extra pencil, but perhaps an official Russell House Cardboard ashtray can be pawned to make up the difference. Edward C. Fennell More Tickets To The Editor: A lot of complaining has beeni done about the ticket distribution program by students who failed to get tickets to the Notre Dame game. Even a poll was taken by the Gamecock to determine the number of unhappy students over the situation . I'd just like to know~ how many of these so-called fans have tried to get tickets to any other games at all. Only Notre Dame and Marquette have been sold out. Where are these fans when the Cocks take - the floor against Virginia Tech. Even the last home game of the year, Houston, was not sold out. An even fairer way of distributing tickets would be to let all the students who had been to all the games up until Notre Dame gel tickets first. Then all those who had missed just one game would be next in line, and so on. It seems the only time we hear complaints is when Notre Dame or any big shool- comes in and those fans who haven't seen a game all year decide they should not only have a ticket, but should have the best tickets in the Coliseum. .Jnhn .Jnckse RIG] ...Bo k .
