The USC Rugby Club scored 18
points in the second half to defeat
Sports the Charleston RFC 28-10 Saturday
afternoon at the USC Intramural
fields.
As the second half began the
score was tied 10-10 but Carolina
came alive as Mark Grogan, Jim
Wynn and Fred Holland scored
tries, all followed by conversions
In by Holland.
The defensive play of USC's
forwards kept the Charleston
ruggers pinned down as Carolina
finished its spring home season
undefeated.
The Charleston club, which is an
Brie f offspring of the USC club, brought
a much improved team to
Columbia. They jumped to an
early lead in the first half as Frank
Soubeyroux bulled his way over the
goal line for a try.
But Carolina quickly responded

conversion was missed.
Carolina's final game of the
season will be against Atlanta, in
Atlanta, next weekend.
Sailing
The College of Charleston took
top honors in the USC spring in
vitational regatta at the Lake
Murray Sail Club last Saturday.
Charleston won the regatta's
."A" division and overall com
petiion. Carolina finished fourth
behind The Citadel and Clemson, in
addition to Charleston.
Just three points separated the
four teams and a tie between The
Citadel and the College of
Charleston for first placer was
broken by comparing times in
races betweeen the two teams.
