Freshman Halston Taylor won the mile with a 4:25.2 time. Rod Dalton took third, nine seconds behind Taylor. Bernie Allen finished first in the nigh hurdles while sophomore Randy Hall did the same in the ntermediates. Allen, running into the wind, clocked a 16.0. Hall's :ime was 55.6. In other events, Gamecocks M'ilton Reid and Paul McLeod :laimed first and third respec ively in the 440-yard run, with Reid's winning time a 50.5. USC rounded out the day by winning the mile relay. The team of Dan Loschack, Keith Norv'el, McLeod and Reid won with a 3:23.5 time. nnis Team -Davidson 6, 6-3, 6-1. Carolina's only loss of the day came when Davidson's combo of Bill Allen and Rick Quinby beat John LeGrand and Bernard Fritz, 6-4, 6-1, in doubles. Tom Craig and Jeff Kefalos defeated Davidson's Bressler-Doosett combo, 6-23, 6-3. Phil Dukes and Steve Geller defeated Dupont -Holman, 6-1, 6-1, to give the Gamecocks two of the three doubles matches. The Gamecocks will play Har vard today and Furman tomorrow at 2:15 at the Maxcy Gregg ourts.
