A world record radiothon for the
Heart Fund will be attempted
beginning Friday, Februa.rv 15 by
disc jockeys for WCOS-AM.
The 15 day marathon begins at 6
a.m. tomorrow and will continue
until 6 a.m. Friday, March 1. The
fund raising e-vent will be
broadcast live from J. B. White's
Richland Mall store, and will be
staffed primarily by members of
the Interfraternity Council and the
Panhellenic Council at U.S. C. as
well as by White's Fashion Board.
Each WCOS disc jockey will
attempt a 56-hr. stint on the air
beginning with Dave Kirby.
Others scheduled to follow Kirby
are Ken Martin, Feb. 17-19; Dave
MacDougall, Feb. 19-22; Hunter
lerry, Feb. 22-24; Jeff Walter,
Feb. 24-26; and Scott Rader, Feb.
26 to March 1.
A fraternity and sorority will be
matched with each disc jockey,
and will be responsible for
handling cash donations, keeping
up-to-date records of the
amounts turned in. and other such
duties. At the end of the marathon
a plaque will be awarded to the
fraternity and sorority that earns
the largest amount of money per
member. The results of the contest
will be based on the amounts
brought in during each 56-hour
stint.

committee representing all area
high schools, will be responsible
for coordinating fund drives at
each of the elementary, junior high
, and high schools in Richland and
Lexington counties.

be an 'Oldies but Goodies' night
scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 14. the
program will last from 6 p.m. til

bands doing songs primarily from

According to Rosenblum, USC
has one of the best travel centers
in the country, for both domestic
and foreign travel.
Todd Rundgren will appear at
the Carolina Coliseum at 8 p.m.,
Tuesday, March 5. The concert
will be free to all USC students with
ID and each student may bring a
guest.

"Since this is our first attempt at
this, we are just going to get what
we can, and then, based on how
much we get, we will set a goal
for next year."
All funds collected will be used
by the South Carolina Heart
Association. The heart association
sponsors research, community
programs, and public and
professional education aimed at
early detection and prevention of
heart disease.
