late Tuesday night with an acute
intestinal disorder. Tests were run
early Wednesday morning to
determine the extent of the illness.

McGuire's condition had improved
considerably since he was first
admitted but declined to define
if his condition was ever critical.
McGuire had experienced
"gastro-internal bleeding."
Woolbright Drafted
Marty Woolbright, Carolinus
leading pass reciever last
season, was picked by the New
York Giants in the seventh
round of the NFL draft.
Woolbright was also drafted last
week by the Philadelphia
franchise of the new World
Football League in the fifth
round.
Skiing
A snow skiing trip to Crested
Butte, Colo. is being offered to all
USC students, faculty and family
for $295.00 per person.
Included in this price is round
trip air fare (leaving from
Columbia), unlimited bar in
flight. double occupancy in a
condominium wine and cheese *
party on the slope, nightly en
tertainment and lift tickets to all
slopes.
Not included are: meals and
ski rentals.
There will be a meeting in the
Physical Education Center on
Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. in room

Soccer
Carolina's soccer club failed to
get a member on the first team
of the All-State soccer squad,
but placed three members on the
second team and two others
received honorable mention.
The members receiving
second team honors were: backs
Paul Gayson and Don Belt, and
forward John Rosier.
Honorable mention went to
goalie Ken Jefferson and half
back Pete Heath.
The All-State first team was
dominated by the two soccer
powers of the Palmetto State
Clemson and Erskine. Clemson
tied for third in the NCAA
championships.
Swimming
The USC swimming team will
host Southeastern Conference
foe Auburn Friday at the USC
.pool. The meet will begin at 7
p.m.
Wrestling
Carolina's wrestling club will
have its last scheduled home
match Friday when it meets the
University of North Carolina
freshman team at 7:30 p.m. at
the Physical Education Center.
USC, whose record is 1-3-1,
has four away matches
remaining. In its first five
matches, two wrestlers are
undefeated-- 190-pounder Ike
Houck and heavyweight Dana
Carpenter.
Bowling
Carolina dealt Tennessee its
worst bowling defeat in history,
76-14, last Saturday in Columbia.
The high game rolled was a 247
by USC freshamn Matt
Culbertson. He also rolled a
1,022 set for five games.
Bob Allen, captain of the
team, rolled a 234 to clinch the
second game of the match.
