rebounds in 19 minutes, his most extended appearance of
the year.
While Winters, 18.6 points per game, English, 17.9 and
Dunleavy, 16.1, naturally are also necessary for Carolina to
win, it's been the other--Mathias, Greiner, Davis, Cox' and
other players on the Gamecock bench who have made it
possible for USC to win the big games, such as the ones
over Marquette and Pennsylvania.
As Penn guard Bill Finger said Saturday night, "The
other guys scored the points, but Mathias, Greiner and Cox
killed us.

Carolina's women's basketball
team will play two games at
Carolina Coliseum prior to the
men's games, it was announced
this week.
The girls will take the floor
against Anderson Junior College
Feb. 4 as a preliminary to the
USC-Canisius game, and will
play Furman Feb. 9, after which
the men play Dayton. The An
derson game will start at 5:45
p.m. and the starting time for the
Furman contest will be deter
mined later.
The coach of the girls, Pam
Backaus, is elated with the
chance to play in the Coliseum,
