Tigers motivation to the LSU team. "They want to annihilate us, not just beat us," Dietzel said. "LSU has always been a fine defensive team," said Dietzel, "They always have people who are very quick and do a fine job of -getting to the football. What is most im pressive about them is their enthusiasm and aggressiveness." The USC coaches. consider LSU to be almost a flawless team and think that the Gamecocks must play error free football if they are to entertain hopes of upsetting LSU. Dietzel experienced his best Girls' Volle) Wins Two Carolina's women volleyballers were engaged in three matches last week, winning two of the matches to bring their record to 9-4 for the year. The team is coached by Violet Meade. "We just could not get it together against Coker," com mented Meade in reference to last Friday night's loss to Coker at the USC Physical Education Center, 15-9, 15-13. This past Monday night the team traveed to Lander College for a three-team tournament. Against Colorado he intercepted a pass early in the third quarter that stoppede a Buffalo drive and started LSU toward its first score. Perhaps his most memorable moment came last year when he flagged down Florida speedster Nat Moore from behind on the LSU one-yard line which stopped an apparent 80-yard touchdown pass. At USC Dietzel's coaching mark is currently nine games under the breakeven mark. Ironically, Dietzel's first game as USC coach was a 28-12 loss to LSU in 1966. That game started Dietzel off to a Carolina career in which he has never seen more victories than losses. Women's volleyball is a fast growing sport around the country, according to Meade. Several colleges even give girls scholarships to play. Meade thinks that women athletics at Carolina is not receiving enough support. This year's team was granted a $2000 for operating cosgs. All matches are free so revenue is financed through the athletic revenues. ......................... ...
