Hitchens, who last year was voted the Mid American Conference's Offensive Player of the Year, led the nation in carries with 326 and finished second in rushing with 1,370 yards. In Miami's 21-8 conquest over the Gamecocks last year, Hitchens completely dominated the Carolina defense as he rushed for 218 yardS in 45 tries and two touchdowns.
