going to do and stopping it are

terback Dobby Grossman in
Columbia with a shoulder injury,
Dietzel had to rely on senior Lyn
Rushing to get the Gamecocks
back in the game. And, sur
prisingly, Rushing came off the

In addition to Parker and
Cherry, who both scored touch
downs, Houston used four other
backs. The key to the Cougar
ground game, as was expected
before the game, was quar -
terback D.C. Nobles.
Nobles rushed for only 27 yards
in nine carries, much less than his
99-yard total of a week ago versus
Rice, but he scored Houston's first
touchdown to put Houston ahead
10-6 on a three-yard run around
end.
But it was not Nobles' rushing
that most assisted the Houston
ground attack, instead it was his
passing.
