been designated the only
awardees in the state for 1973
74 Fulbright appointments.
Dr. Richard D. Mandell,
associate professor of history,
and Dr. Arch G. Woodside,
assistant professor of business
administration, were the only
Fulbright appointees among 15
candidates from five South
Carolina colleges and
universities.
Mandell, professor of history
at USC since 1966, received a
research award for work on the
social history of sport. Man

Unfavorable
Response to the car pool lot
located at the corner of Pickens
and Pendleton streets, has been
less than favorable, according to
Security Director George Key.
Key said the first week, a four
day week, only III cars were ad
mitted during the car pool hours. S
This week, through Thursday, the
count had risen to a disappointing
148.
"The response has definitely
been unfavorable towards the car
pool lot," Key said, "but the
mumber is picking up."
Key stated that originally it was
planned for the lot to be cleared
ach night at midnight, but it had
tot been enforced and many
;tudents were leaving their cars
arked there overridght. He said
kn estimated 100 to 125 cars were
