I cut myself and was forced to take immediate action. My roommate called the infirmary and, since it was a Saturday, discovered that no doctor was available. One was on call, however. My roommate was still talking with the nurse when, having lost a lot of blood, I began to feel faint. I didn't think I would make it to the infirmary, and my roommate asked if someone could be sent to pick me up. The nurse was amazed: how could I feel faint if I only cut my finger?This annoyed me - I dd feel faint. (The cut was serious enough to require seven stitches.) But, preferring passing out to bleeding to death, I struck out for the infirmary. Knowing that I would have to be sewn up, I was a little nervous - I'd never had stitches before. I was also a little apprehensive - I'd never been to the infirmary before. The attitudes of the nurses on duty did very little to put me at Spur On W( BY'BOB CRAFT The Golden Spur Nightclub will be closed Fridays and Saturdays for the rest of the summer season, according to Bob Todd, assistant director of the University Union. Todd said that the Spur stayed open for two weekends after beer began to be served in the Golden Spur but that the dem~and was not enough to justify keeping it open. Todd said that this was not to say that the Spur would definitely be closed on the weekends for the rest of the summer but for now the Spur would be closed on weekends. Plans have also been made for moving the Golden Spur into the area which was once the Faculty Dining Room. Todd said that the target date for opening the new Spur was the -SALE 5O0 OFF INNER CITY QL ADRAfJS 2016 GREEN STREET. - (AT FIVE POINTS) Compla.i ease. They seemed to consider my arrival an intrusion, or something done to deliberately annoy them, but they proceeded to make a file and fill out forms. Finally, they got around to my finger; finally, after discussing my plight, they called the doctor; and, finally, an hour later, the doctor arrived. Meanwhile, I was on the operat ing table. The nurses weren't sure which end was which, and this. resulted in my being juggled a bit. After searching for missing equip ment, the nurses left me alone in the room -- needless to say, by now., I was wondering if they knew what they were doing, exactly. I even began to wonder about the com petence of the doctor (which is traumatic for someone on the op erating table). After his arrival, I was put at ease ... until the nurses returned and still couldn't find the necessary equipment. As one nurse handed the doctor a dressing, which had been exposed to any germs around for at least one minute, I could imagine infection setting in within :Iosed ekends first week of the fall session and that construction would start immediately. Plans for the new Spur were drawn up by Tom DePurna, a USC civil engineering student. The space involved includes the Old Faculty Lounge area and the two adjacent dining rooms. The doctor did leave me assured I would, indeed , live and the finger had been saved Since that fateful day, I have returned to the infirmary twice to have the bandages changed. Dif ferent nurses have different atti tudes, I suppose, and leave differ ent impression. But my first impression of the treatment I re ceived from those nurses will be long-lasting.
