b Edward Kennedy hinted that the
Watergate scandal ".may have
gone higher than anyone had
imagined."
Kennedy said that, in a recent
speech, President Richard Nixon
made the statement "God bless
America." Kennedy said that "this
may implicate a much higher
source, since, as every good
American knows, God would never
bless China, Russia or North Viet
Nam."

Sen. Strom Thurmond, R-S.C.,
refuted Ervin's statement con
cerning God's ethnic origin and
political persuasion, saying that
"God switched parties the same
time I did, in 1964."
Gov. George Wallace of
Alabama said that the FBI, CIA
and other agencies should begin an
immediate investigation into God's
background.
"Look at it like this,".Wallace
said while attending the First
Annual Wheelchair Drag Races in
Birmingham. "He ain't got a social
security number, a driver's license
or any credit ratings. Yet he's
messing around in everything. I
think he ought to be detained and
researched. He probably knows a
lot more about what's going on
than he lets on."
In a related development,
evangelist Billy Graham denied
reports that he advocates
castration for those found guilty of
misconduct. in the Watergate
scandal.
In another related development,
Archie "Fingers" Moriarty,
convicted felon, said in his cell at
Fort Leavenworth today that he
intends to run for the presidency in
1976.
"I have been convicted of
murder, arson, rape, forgery,
perjury and grand larceny, as well
as fraud," Moriarty said. "Can you
ask for any more qualifications
than that for the presidency of
these United States?"
