Visits Oaklp
The University of South
Carolina Concert Choir will go
to Oakland, Calif., August as one
of North America's most out
standing demonstrations of the
famed Kodaly method of vocal
training.
The USC group, under the
direction of Arpad Darazs, will
participate in the first Kodaly
International Symposium, to be
held August 5-11 in the San
Francisco area.
The invitation to the choir
was extended on.behalf of the
Kodaly International Sym
posium by Sister Mary Alice
Hein, coordinating chairman
for the meetings which are to
be held at Holy Names College
in Oakland, Calif.
The USC Concert Choir was
selected, according to officials
of the conference, because
Darazas is considered one
one of the leading experts on the
Kodaly method in North and
South America and because the
choir is perhaps the only con
tinually performing vocal
ensemble in America which is
trained in the Kodaly method.
